Mentoring

Set yourself apart by joining Bucks Mentoring. Open to students in any year of their course, Bucks Mentoring gives you the opportunity to be mentored by an industry professional and build up your CV alongside your degree course. Some of our mentors are former students of Bucks New University who will have studied your course and are now engaged in working in a range of industries.

By participating in the mentoring scheme, you will benefit from:

  • Acquiring career insight and direction
  • Building your self-confidence
  • Establishing your professional network to help you prepare for the graduate job market
  • Gaining an understanding of the professional world
  • Developing your employability skills

Our programme runs November to May each year and we recommend a minimum of 5 online or in-person meetings, but the regularity you communicate with your mentor is for you both to decide so this can fit around your other commitments. Look at our FAQs for more information.

How to apply

Any student in any year of study can apply, but places are limited. Most of our partnerships are open to all students, but some opportunities are targeted specifically at black African and Caribbean students and students of mixed race with black African and Caribbean heritage who face additional barriers in the graduate job market.

Applications for Bucks Mentoring are no longer being accepted for this academic year. If you are interested in having a mentor and will still be a current student next year, please fill out the Expression of Interest Form and you will be contacted in Autumn 2021 when applications will reopen.

If you are alumni or a professional looking to mentor our students, please complete this form. You may submit this at any point during the year to apply for our next mentoring cycle.
