My society: Musical Theatre

My society: Musical Theatre

I believe it is so important to not only come to university and study the course you love, but to also delve into your hobbies and explore the things you enjoy. Perhaps even try something new! I was so excited to come to Buckinghamshire New University and be a part of it’s Musical Theatre society

As a music fanatic who has been a part of a several productions such as Hairspray, and Back to The 80’s, I couldn’t wait to further develop my singing, acting and dancing skills.

What do societies do?

In our weekly sessions, the Musical Theatre Society helps all its members to grow confidence in their musical abilities, learning dances and songs for performances at the University and nearby theatres. The society leaders do a great job at providing us with masterclasses, where we get to develop our acting and dancing with professionals who perform in the Westend.

One of my favourite parts about joining the society was the community that developed. Last year the Musical Theatre Society were chosen to be a part of a competition with other musical theatre groups around the country.

Through countless hours of rehearsals, I grew a lot closer the other members and built a great bond with them.

What kind of societies are there?

There are truly so many societies that you can join, you can even create one yourself!

My friends and I recently created a Christian Union society because our beliefs are very special and important to us. We wanted to build a community for others who desire to express their beliefs or for those who are just simply interested.

If there is one thing I would recommend for you to do when coming to university, I would say that you should explore the plethora of societies that the University has to offer.

You never know what you might find and how much you may enjoy it!
