Two Buckinghamshire New University alumnae, Anna Hatchard and Jane Dennis, are hosting a free ‘Laughter Yoga’ session this Friday, 19 March, 12.30pm.

Inspired by the Red Nose Day campaign fronted by Dame Judy Dench and Benedict Cumberbatch asking “What is it to be human? What is it that connects us?”, ‘Laughter for Red Nose Day’ aims to help participants connect during lockdown.

The MSc Positive Psychology graduates met while studying at BNU, and have since formed Laughter-Lab, a new initiative focussed on boosting wellbeing and managing stress with laughter. ‘Laughter Yoga’ is a combination of laughing and deep breathing exercises and has a variety of proven health benefits.

Dr Matthew Smith from the University’s Centre for Positive Psychology commented, “The work that Anna and Jane are doing with Laughter-Lab is just fantastic and is so needed right now!

“Anna and Jane are great proponents of positive psychology and are living out what they have learnt on the MAPP... Let’s all have a laugh on Red Nose Day!”
