Residents at Ryeview Manor Care Home in High Wycombe have enjoyed a turkey Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and entertainment from students at a festive lunch.

Bucks Students’ Union organises the seasonal lunch every year for pensioners from the care home, in Keep Hill Road, High Wycombe, at its campus in Queen Alexandra Road, with students also singing for the OAPs.

Resident Ron Blunden said: ”It was a great afternoon and the entertainment was very enjoyable. The meal was excellent and very tasty.”

Fellow resident Beryl Hosford added: “I had a very enjoyable afternoon. The students’ performance was great and I really enjoyed the singing.  I’m already looking forward to next year!”

Entertainment was provided by the University’s AcapellaDance, and Musical  Theatre societies.

Jeanette White, Ryeview’s Engagement Lead said “We were delighted to have been invited back for our residents’ Christmas lunch again this year.

“The students put on such a magnificent performance for everyone and work so hard to make it a very special occasion.”

Jade Collis, Activities Coordinator (Volunteering and Charity Fundraising) at Bucks Students’ Union, said: “The Christmas dinner was a great success. We love offering the students a wide range of volunteering opportunities to get them involved in the day.

“The day really had a feeling of community spirit and we love hosting the Ryeview Manor residents.”
