All the fun of the fair at Winterland

Families can get in to the festive spirit with a day of seasonal fun and entertainment at Winterland at Buckinghamshire New University from 10am-5pm on Saturday 7 December.

The free event, organised by students, is on the concourse and in the Events Hall at our campus in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe, and coincides with Undergraduate Open Day, which is taking place from 10am-7pm.

Attractions range from fairground rides including chairoplanes, a ferris wheel and a carousel; a Christmas raffle; indoor inflatables; a Frozen fancy dress competition for all ages; and the opportunity to meet Santa in his grotto.

A stage will feature entertainment from Chiltern Academy School of Performing Arts; singer-songwriter Alice Dudley; the bands Banned from Sainsbury’s and Muddy Duck; and Swedish-born, London-based singer-songwriter KLARA.

Thames Valley Police and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue will also be on hand, and the raffle includes prizes from Hughenden Manor, Wycombe Swan Theatre, and Odds Farm Park in Wooburn Green, near High Wycombe.

BA (Hons) Events, Festivals and Venue Management and BA (Hons) Music Business students at the University have organised the event as part of their degrees.

Student Molly Dowdell said: “We are extremely excited to welcome people to Winterland for a day of Yuletide fun and, having been part of the planning process from week one, we all now cannot wait to see all of our hard work pay off.”
