Film and TV Studios
Students in the School of Arts and Creative Industries at Bucks New University learn with the same tools as the professionals to give them an edge when entering the demanding media job market.
To prepare students for a career in media production, Bucks took the step to become one of first academic institutes in the UK to have a Vizrt broadcast virtual studio system installed.
Our film studio spaces also include audio-visual editing suites, with Final Cut Pro/Studio, Avid and other audio-visual sequencer/plug-ins and related software on Mac Pros. The suites are acoustically treated and sympathetically lit.
Film studio 1 is 100m2 in size, and is a multi-camera facility with optional use of a large green screen (2 x 8m/9m walls and full floor covering). The studio has a full TV lighting rig with the option of control from the studio and/or gallery. This can be complemented by the vast array of camera and lighting equipment available from our media resources department.
Film studio 2 is 75m2 in size, containing a full HD gallery including vision mixer and sound desk, lighting controls, monitors and everything you need for live camera and audio vision mixing.
Also known as our drama studio, this flexible studio can be configured for performance or film and audio capture.
All the Mac Pro Workstations have Final Cut Studio and Avid Media Composer installed. One of the large teaching suites is equipped with 7.1 surround sound and a projector whilst the second suite has TV monitors attached to all workstations for professional colour correction. Our Individual Edit Suites are fully equipped Mac Pro workstations running Final Cut Studio, Avid Media Composer and the full Adobe Creative Suite to help you fully realise and deliver your production. Each suite is capable of DVD and Blu-Ray authoring; they have a fast P2 workflow using P2CMS and come equipped with HDV tape decks for HD Digitising up to 1080/50i. Each suite is sound deadened and fully air-conditioned.
