Diana is an international award-winning designer, Director of The Drawing Room Interiors, Associate Consultant for Hammond Care, Dementia Choice, as well as being Ex-President of SBID and Ex-Chairman of the Healthcare Design Council (HDAC).   Diana works in the commercial sector specialising in healthcare projects, from care homes and dental practices to assisted living and retirement villages.

Home Healer – Into the Light UK Ltd


Emma uses a spiritual awareness to work with removing negative energies from within a home. These energies can be as a result of earth stresses, such as geopathic stress, or from spiritual energies attached to property or land. Emma connects to energy remotely and has worked with over 500 homes around the world, making them happier. She has had life changing case studies featured in the Daily Mail and Sprit & Soul magazine, as well as been a guest in BBC Radio Oxford, BBC Radio London and local radio. She also hosts her own monthly global radio show on News for the Soul and been a panellist to discuss Health & Wellbeing with Global Woman and The Connected Series.

Gary Wilburn

Gary has 35 years’ experience leading Architecture and multi-disciplined Design teams from his base in Hampshire. Gary’s focus is to minimise impact and energy use in the construction and whole life operation of all projects whether new build or refurbishment. Having moved on from HPW Architecture after 30 years, he is now working with the Energy Pro team heading a development and design consultancy specialising in sustainability in the built environment and green infrastructure.

Holly Passmore

Researcher and soon-to-be Business Consultancy Owner

Holly studied Psychology at The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where she grew a keen interest in how environments influence health and wellbeing. Her recent specific research area concentrates on increasing wellbeing opportunities within interior and exterior educational spaces, particularly with young children. Holly is now in the process of establishing her own consultancy business connected to her research interests, to help towards the growing field of design for health and wellbeing.

Stephen Edge

Biophilic and Salutogenic Design Consultant and Researcher

Stephen’s career spans over forty years in the fields of architecture, interior design & academia, he is BREEAM trained, and is now a biophilic and salutogenic design consultant and researcher for his consultancy Salvedge. His latest commission is for architects AHR and their clients the Royal College of Physicians, new £35 million HQ in Liverpool. It’s his role to blend key Biophilic Patterns with the WELL Building Standards to help attain WELL Platinum and a BREEAM Outstanding Certification. So that when it opens at the end of 2020, it will be one of the healthiest buildings in the world.

Jacqui Smith

In November 2012 Jacqui permanently lost the sight in her left eye and has since combined her profession with her personal experience of impaired vision both in her own work and in promoting best practice to others in the design community. Her portfolio includes projects both new build and refurbishment in Extra Care, sheltered housing, dementia and nursing homes, homes for young adults with learning disabilities and hospice/end of life care. Jacqui is an accredited member of SBID.


Lisa Barden

Director of Barden Spa
Barden Spa provides creative business support for all sectors of the spa & wellness industry and Lisa is a former Chair of the UK Spa Association and a board member since 2014. She is a guest lecturer at the Opera Armida Barelli Spa/Wellness/Hospitality University in Trento, Italy. Lisa’s goals for the industry are to open spas to welcome more people, more often to lead a life towards wellbeing, she has been in the industry for 25 years and a qualified trainer since 2004. Her experience spans across spa, beauty, aesthetics, and wellness and has successfully developed concepts in both design and operation for many spa & wellness businesses with sustainability in mind.

He has extensive experience of developing and delivering workplace transformation projects for blue chip and public sector clients, from design development and change management consultancy through to implementation and project delivery. Passionate about how the design of products, space and experience influences people and outcomes, he joined Connection in 2013 and lives in Manchester.

Mary Rushton-Beales

Lighting Design consultant for Lighting Design House


Mary has over 35 years experience in the lighting world, having begun her career with Philips Lighting and running her own independent lighting design practice since 1995, specialising in workplace, hospitality, retail and residential design, Mary now currently provides a healthy Lighting Design consultancy. In particular, in 2019, she was involved with the lighting design for the Biophilic living walls and interior landscaping details, in the Royal College of Physicians new £35 million HQ, in Liverpool. Her current research is into the impact of UVC light for disinfection, and how Botanical Light-Dynamic Air Filters can improve indoor air quality.

John Orrell

John, architect and founding director of the DLA Design Group has been a part-time lecturer since 2001 and is currently also an internal examiner at Leeds Beckett University of Architecture. He is a member of the Project Office Steering Group; a design and research collaboration of staff and students making ethical, social and resilient architecture. He is past RIBA Regional Chair for Yorkshire and Humberside, a RIBA Design Award Assessor and a Design Expert Witness. A member of the RIBA Core Review Group which published the new RIBA Plan of Work in May 2013. The group also published the BIM Overlay to the RIBA Outline Plan of Work in May 2012.

Sarah has worked as a Concept Designer at Interface Inc for 6 years, assisting and guiding clients to realise their ideal sustainable flooring designs. Prior to this role she worked in a variety of design practices gaining experience and a strong passion for innovative and sustainable design. Sarah’s previous roles include working for BREEAM, Foster + Partners and AKA Design. Interface create high-performance interior spaces that support well-being, productivity, and creativity, as well as the sustainability of the planet.
