Why study Events Management at BNU?

Why study Events Management at BNU?

Events Management isn’t a course that gets offered at a variety of universities so when I saw it, I was immediately interested. Taking on this course has allowed me to dive deeper into my passion for live music and events but has also pushed me and my academic learning on the management side.

Modules

A factor that helped me choose this course, was the variety of modules we get to take on. Throughout our lectures and workshops, we get to individually dive in and pick into the event and festival industry, from event hospitality to entertainment industry framework

This course also allows us to get our hands dirty and plan our own event! Currently in our “It’s Not All Rock and Roll” module, the Events and Music Business students are planning Buck’s annual Winterland event just in time for the Christmas season. We each get to home in on specific elements that it takes to plan an event, such as marketing, logistics and entertainment artists, giving a much more solid idea of what it takes to plan and manage events.

Specialist-teaching

Our lecturers each have industry experience themselves, from working for large live events companies to managing artists. Gratefully, their experience and knowledge can get passed down to us throughout our learning.

One of my favourite things about our lecturers is that they treat us as future event managers, which really gives us the support and confidence that we need to succeed.

One to One Mentoring

Course-collaboration

We often work with students studying the Music Business degree, as well as share modules with them. This not only gives us an opportunity to meet new people with similar interests but gives us a variety when it comes to our learning.

This really gives us a step up and allows us to learn how music business plays into the live events sector. Being able to be surrounded by friends with the same passions as you is also a massive plus and may even get you some free gig tickets!

Placements

A final factor that persuaded me to take on this course is the variety of doors that it opens for you. Our lecturers often send out a variety of work experience. Our Students’ Union also hosts events almost every night, this allows us to take on many volunteer opportunities.

At the end of your course, you will be fully equipped to take on any internships or job opportunities that come your way thanks to the range of learning this course offers.
