Everything you need to know about High Wycombe Campus

Everything you need to know about our High Wycombe Campus

During my 3 years here at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), I can confidently say I am an expert in everything you need to know about our High Wycombe Campus, and I thought I’d share my knowledge and experience with you!

Everything is close by!

The greatest thing about our main campus (High Wycombe) is that it’s right next to the city centre, separated by a big bridge. In just a small 2-3 minute walk, you're in the main high street which I like to call the ‘Old town’, there you will find restaurants such as The local Wetherspoons and Merletto lounge, to takeaways such as McDonalds and many different other chains to local café’s and shops such as B&M and all the charity shops you can think of.

Attached to the old town is the Eden centre which houses some really nice shops and brands such as New Look, Zara, Pandora. Near to the Eden centre we have Primark and right next to the bus station we have Zizzi, Wagamama’s and many more even the local Tesco is in the centre, and everything is just a 2-3 minute walk from the main campus.

The range of hang out and eating areas

If you don’t fancy leaving campus or don’t have that much money to buy lunch then look no further! We have our own Students’ Union bar that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices too. Looking for a hot cheap and tasty meal? Then look no further than the Venue which you can either eat in or takeaway, I very much enjoy some chicken nuggets and sweet potato fries from here.

Or you can head to Beats which is located on the first floor in the east wing, I always have a lovely talk with the staff in there where I can grab either a jacket potato, pasta, cake, sandwich or a nice hot drink. The best thing about eating on campus is that you can eat good quality and healthy food for under £6.

Our amazing library and study spaces

First let me say our library has 4 amazing floors full of classrooms, study areas with either computers, macs and plenty of space. Our library is open 24 hours and I often find myself in there during exam season when I want to cram as much information in overnight. Each floor has rows upon rows of books to help you study, and our helpful reception team will help you with any queries you might have. Right next to them you have the IT team to help with logins and computer problems.

Each floor boasts a fantastic view of the surrounding areas around campus. My favourite spot has to be the fourth floor – here you can find small glass study rooms and the view of high Wycombe outside the window is amazing! I spent most of my first year there studying theory and writing my essay’s and it did help that the photography books were on that floor too.

Besides the library there are plenty of places to study around campus such as a lounge next door to beats where you can eat your lunch with friends or get some quick studying done before lesson.

State of the art facilities

As a Photography student, I need a studio to shoot in, I need a place to develop film and BNU has it all there ready for me to use, with a helpful booking system I am able to use anything with 24 hours in advance notice of course. It is not just us, we have state of the art recording studios for music and acting students, we also have an aviation simulator for those training to be pilots - BNU has it all.
