Biography

Janet is a lecturer in early years and education and is an early year’s specialist with a particular interest and expertise in supporting the psychosocial aspects of supporting emotional health, inclusion and wellbeing of children and the protection of vulnerable children and families. She has spent many years working in the Early Years and Primary School sector.

During that time, she has managed early years settings to secure high quality childcare and education, undertaken a range of advisory roles in Local Authorities and engaged with vulnerable families from a range of cultural backgrounds in Children’s Centres.

Embarking on a BA in Early Childhood Studies and an MSc in Psychodynamics of Human Development has enabled Janet to pursue her research interests in drawing together early years and psychosocial theories to inform early years sector practice. This has led her to pursue her interest in supporting the professional development of those working in Early Years and Primary Education, and to develop a career in Higher Education, alongside running an early years consultancy and training business.
