Biography

Ramesh is the Associate Head of School, a Chartered Engineer and a senior fellow of Higher Education Academy. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and the Institution of Engineering Designers. Prior to joining Buckinghamshire New University, he was an Associate Professor and course leader in Construction Management at Solent University.

He obtained his Civil Engineering degree at Tribhuvan University, Nepal (1992); his Master’s in Construction Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand (1996) and his PhD from the University of Teesside, UK (2002).  Ramesh has received several awards for his academic excellence, including the Overseas Research Student Award by the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the Universities of the United Kingdom for his PhD.

Ramesh has over 20 years of international experience, transitioning from industrial roles in design, planning and management of building and infrastructure projects into academia in higher education. Ramesh has actively pursued roles in the wider University context, such as research cluster leader, chair of the ethics standing panel, staff governor and a member of the professional recognition group for the HEA fellowship programmes. His contribution to learning and teaching has been recognised by the students through several nominations for the STAR (Student Teaching and Recognition) Awards and was a winner in 2016 for Excellent Academic Support.

Ramesh has written numerous papers in international journals and conferences. His research interests include construction information technology and building information modelling (BIM), simulation modelling, project management and lean construction.
