Dr Adrian Guachalla

Biography

Adrian was awarded a PhD in Tourism Management by the University of Westminster. His Doctoral research focused on the Royal Opera House and its role in the perception and experience of Covent Garden. This study has richly informed his lecturing practice and has been disseminated in a variety of academic platforms.

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University, Adrian developed and led programmes of study in festivals and events management at Middlesex University at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Other roles in Higher Education include lecturing posts in tourism and events at London Metropolitan University and at the University of Westminster. This background is rooted in several years working in the hospitality and tourism industries as a Customer Care Agent for the Royal Opera House and in events management/student services as a Resident Advisor at International Students House in London.

He is a designated member of the Student Experience and Equality & Diversity committees and has also acted as External Examiner for Southampton Solent University. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has recently been appointed as External Examiner for Bournemouth University’s International College tourism and hospitality programmes.

Adrian is responsible and deeply committed to student employability in the area of Travel & Aviation at Bucks. He thoroughly enjoys supporting every student in the journey towards employment throughout their studies and beyond.
