Dr Leo Rathinaraj Antony Soundararajan

Before joining BNU in 2022, I worked as the First Contact Practitioner in Buckinghamshire. Prior to this, I worked as a Lecturer in the Physical Therapy department of a public higher education institute in Saudi Arabia. Before moving to Saudi Arabia, I worked as an Academician and Program Lead in higher education institutes in India. My area of interest in teaching is Cardio-Respiratory Conditions, MSK conditions, Rehabilitation and guiding research projects for under and postgraduate students.

My special interest in the effect of exercises on pulmonary function parameters among low back pain management motivated me to explore my knowledge toward Ph.D. in Physiotherapy. In addition, I have a master’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration. I am an approved teacher and external examiner for higher education institutes internationally. My research interests are selected pulmonary function parameters in cLBP patients, evaluation and management of low back pain, work-related musculoskeletal disorders and Interdisciplinary research including diagnostics, anatomical, leadership and medical education.

I am a registered member of the Health and Care Professional Council, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, The Indian Association of Physiotherapists, and the Saudi Physical Therapy Association.

My career highlights include abstract reviewer for scientific events including World Physiotherapy Congress, appreciation and award for presentations, and manuscript reviewer for indexed journals. I worked as an Internal Auditor in the Deanship of Quality and Accreditation for NCAAA, Saudi Arabia, ACIS, UK and AHPGS, Germany. As a Student Research Coordinator, I encouraged my students to publish and present their research findings at national and international scientific events. I am keen to update my knowledge and skills through CPDs and contribute equally to the profession by presenting scientific research findings at conferences and publishing in indexed journals.
