Biography

I joined Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, having worked for many years as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator working with third and forth sector clients. After completing my masters in 2019 my work shifted to a more conceptually focused practice, branching out from a pure freelancing career to art direction, and research led practice.

I studied for my undergrad in Graphic Communication at Bath School of Art and Design, with a particular focus in printmaking before undertaking my Masters in Comics and Graphic Novels studies at Dundee University. My specialist area of interest and research is across conceptual applications of illustration and visual narrative as it relates to the fine arts and design. I believe in a post-disciplinary style of research and education that brings in approaches from a range of diverse disciplines across the arts and humanities, and this has influenced my image practice taking it in a range of experimental directions, from video game design to textiles.

Before moving to Buckinghamshire I worked as a design lecturer at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh Napier and as a researcher in Calgary, Canada. I have a particular interest in narrative drawing, comics and printmaking, and the intersection of the three is current the focus of my research interests.
