Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2015, I spent time working as a web developer, independent technology consultant, and Technical Director for a digital marketing agency.

I studied Computer Science (BSc) at Brunel University and my specialist area of expertise is full-stack web application development. I am a strong advocate of Agile software development practices, especially in early-stage technology startups.

I have a keen interest in technological innovation through partnerships with non-technical founders who have subject-matter expertise. As an adviser and consultant, I aim to help non-technical founders leverage the benefits of technology as efficiently as possible while maximising their chances of success.

As a Senior Lecturer, my teaching has a strong focus on workplace relevance, and I work with students to explore career opportunities throughout their time at university.

I am a Professional Member of the BCS (MBCS), a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA) and have attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP).

I also hold professional qualifications such as Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) and ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)

As well as teaching on our Undergraduate courses, I am Programme Lead for the Digital & Technology Solutions Professional degree apprenticeships which afford me the opportunity to work with high profile employers such as Sky.

As part of my on-going involvement in the industry, I have also enjoyed the success of co-founding and subsequently selling a tech startup providing web-based software to the Film & TV industry.

I continue to maintain my engagement with industry through various advisory and co-founding roles.
