Biography

I have worked for many years as a Performance Designer for theatre, dance and opera productions, site specific installations and films for companies and spaces all over Britain.  As well as working in a freelance capacity I have been a resident designer at Plymouth Theatre Royal, Worcester Swan Theatre, Derby Playhouse and South Hill Park, Bracknell.

I have lectured in set and costume design at universities and colleges including Plymouth Art College, Rose Bruford, Tottenham College of Technology and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  I have also run ‘Scenehouse’ a vocational course for post graduate level students in Performance Design and related arts in Edinburgh for the past 8 years.

I have enjoyed many performance collaborations in found spaces, which have included an abandoned hospital in Birmingham, the banks and river of the Water of Leith in Edinburgh, London’s urban green spaces, and a creating an outdoor performance space in The Gorbals, Glasgow for the Citizens Theatre and Debajehmujig Storytellers, a First Nations  theatre group based in the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario for the 2016 Commonwealth Games.

My interests include site specific performance, baroque stage machinery, community - based performance and sustainable practice.
