Suzanne Simon – (BSc) Specialist Practitioner Qualification District Nursing

Our BSc (Hons) Specialist Practitioner Qualification District Nursing graduate, Suzanne, recently sat down and had a chat with us about how BNU helped her achieve her career goals.

Having a young family, Suzanne initially decided to join BNU as it not only offered the course she wanted but was also close to home which helped her juggle both sides to her life. As well as this she had heard great reviews from others “My colleagues had also been to BNU. They all enjoyed their experience and had great things to say.”

Suzanne now works as a District Nurse for Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust NHS. She shared that her time on the course made this possible. “I learnt more about the job in detail. The university assisted with expanding my knowledge and realising there are different ways which we can nurse patients. Meeting people from different areas of the UK also helped to develop my professional network.”

Although after years working practically Suzanne mentioned she struggled with the academic side of her studies, however she managed to get support when needed. “The supportive teams such as the Learning Development Unit, as well as the tutors were a great help. There are also teams to support you with academic writing, which at times I had assistance from and they gave me the tools and supplies I needed to make my writing flow. I would say anyone that has a phobia of essays seek them, they will help you every step of the way.”

Suzanne feels her time at BNU changed her as a Nurse. “It opened my eyes to a lot of alternative ways of delivering care. Its improved my views and changed how I deliver care, and also expanded my knowledge in the Nursing field”
