Your attendance and your guest tickets

If you are due to complete and be awarded your qualification this academic year and are on an eligible course, you will be invited to attend graduation in either February 2024 or July 2024. You will be emailed the term before your graduation ceremony to advise you of the details.

Please note that the information below is regarding February 2024 graduation.

Deadline: The deadline for purchasing tickets has been extended to 12pm (noon) on Thursday 11 January 2024.

Registration will open in the Autumn term of 2023 for February 2024 ceremonies. You will receive an email to your university and personal email addresses to advise you when registration is open. You are required to book tickets via the Ede and Ravenscroft website by 12pm (noon) Thursday 11 January 2024 (extended deadline) to confirm if you wish to attend your ceremony in person. Please note, if you do not book tickets by the deadline, you will not be able to attend your ceremony and will therefore graduate in absentia. Whilst completing the online booking form, you can also purchase guest tickets. You can go back into your registration to purchase your guest tickets later but please note tickets are subject to availability.

If you studied at a BNU campus (High Wycombe, Uxbridge, Aylesbury or Pinewood) there is no charge for your ticket to attend. If you studied at a partner college campus, then there is a £16 charge for your ticket. You will receive both your own, and your guest tickets at Registration; they will not be posted in advance. Your tickets will entitle you to the food that is included; information on the available catering will be confirmed nearer the time on the catering page.

To register please follow this booking link, which was also be included in the email you received advising you that registration was open. Please search for Buckinghamshire New University and follow the instructions for creating your account/logging on. You will need to confirm your Student ID number, your surname and provide your email address initially. Once logged on, the booking system will tell you which ceremony you have been allocated to. You can then register your attendance, book guest tickets, book your gown and order photography. If you do not register your attendance by the deadline, you will not be able to attend your ceremony and will therefore graduate in absentia.

Once you have begun to register and purchase your tickets you must follow the process through to the end, or the transaction will not be completed. Your registration and guest ticket purchases will be confirmed by email. If you do not receive an email, you may not be registered. Please check your clutter or spam folders for the email. If you have any technical issues, please contact Ede and Ravenscroft directly.

Graduands will be seated together and will be presented on stage alongside graduands from the same cohort. If you arrive late and we are still able to include you, you will be allocated a different seat to the one on your ticket. You will still be presented on stage but at a later point to the rest of your cohort. If you arrive too late or at the end of the ceremony, you will be unable to be presented on stage.

We strongly recommend you register to attend to ensure your space even if you have not received your results yet. If you are not made an award of the University by the Board of Examiners by Thursday 21 December 2023, then you can request a refund your tickets. You must have been made an award to attend graduation. Those with referral work to complete can request a refund for their tickets and will be offered a place at the next available graduation ceremony for their course. Please see below for information on refunds.

If you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony date, unfortunately there are no alternative dates available. In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to move you to the next available graduation week but please note things such as a holiday do not count as exceptional circumstances. If you feel you have exceptional circumstances, please contact the graduation team via graduation@bnu.ac.uk outlining your situation. Each situation will be processed in an individual basis and we cannot guarantee we will be able to defer your graduation.

Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis and are subject to availability.

If you think you are eligible to graduate and have tried to register but were unable to, please contact the graduation team: graduation@bnu.ac.uk.

Deadline: Please inform the Graduation team by 12pm (noon) on Thursday 11 January 2024.

If you object to the publication of your personal data (name and course title) in the graduation programme and on graduation merchandise, please ensure you have told us this in response to this question on the booking form when registering your attendance.

Should you need to email us regarding this, please email graduation@bnu.ac.uk and clearly mark your e-mail in the subject title with the words ‘I do not want my details published’.

Deadline: The deadline for purchasing tickets has been extended to 12pm (noon) on Thursday 11 January 2024.

You are advised to book and pay for your guest tickets when you register via the Ede and Ravenscroft website. If you are attending a BNU ceremony (ceremony 1, 2, 3, 5 or 6), you can initially purchase up to three guest tickets, subject to availability. If you are attending a partner ceremony (ceremony 4), you can initially purchase up to two guest tickets, subject to availability. Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis and are not guaranteed, so you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Additional tickets, above your initial allocation may be available for your ceremony but please note this is not guaranteed. If extra tickets are available, they can be purchased on a first come first served basis on the day of your ceremony during your registration period.

The ceremony in the Swan is not recommended for infants and young children under the age of 5 years old. If you are intending to bring children, they must hold a guest ticket and be sat with an adult guest who also holds a guest ticket. Guests are seated separately from the graduating students and children must be supervised by a responsible adult guest throughout the ceremony. Children cannot be supervised by or sit with graduating students. If a graduating student attends on their own with any children, they will not be able to attend their ceremony.

You cannot purchase tickets for a specific area of the theatre. We will try to ensure family groups sit together, although we cannot guarantee this if your guests require special access, or you purchase additional tickets later in the process. Should you wish separate seating for your guests in different parts of the theatre, please let us know during the booking process and by emailing graduation@bnu.ac.uk and whilst we will try to accommodate this, we cannot guarantee it.

New for February 2024, we are introducing a quieter room where we intend to show the live stream of the ceremony at our High Wycombe Campus (you will not be watching it live at the Swan). These tickets include access to the celebration and refreshments after the ceremony so you can join the rest of your group.

There are a limited number of these tickets available for each ceremony. Your guest ticket purchases will be confirmed by e-mail. If you do not receive an e-mail the tickets may not have been successfully purchased. Please check clutter and spam folders for the email. If you have any technical issues, please contact Ede and Ravenscroft directly.

Deadline: Please ensure you inform us of any requirements by the extended deadline of 12pm (noon) Thursday 11 January 2024.

During the booking process you will be asked if you, the graduating student, have any requirements, such as access requirements, which may affect your participation in the ceremony. We are an inclusive environment and would like to make your graduation run as smoothly as possible. We may be in contact with you to discuss your requirements further to ensure we can enable you to attend your graduation.

During the process of booking your guest tickets, there is the option to book a wheelchair space, if required. We will also ask if your guests have any special access requirements/special seating arrangements we should be aware. We are an inclusive environment and will do our best to accommodate requests and may be in contact with you to discuss these requirements further to enable us to ensure your guests can attend your graduation.

Please note that wheelchair spaces are limited and bookable on a first come first served basis. These tickets provide an accessible space for your wheelchair or that of your guest and are not a seat.

For further information on access requirements please see the additional support page.

If you are in the process of making an academic appeal, you can still graduate as long as you have been made an award of the University by the Board of Examiners. You must have been made your award by Thursday 21 December 2023 in order to be eligible to attend February 2024 graduation.

If you buy tickets and then find you have not been made an award by the Board of Examiners, you will not be able to graduate but will be eligible for a refund. Please see the information below on this.

You will not be able to graduate if you have any outstanding debts with the University. As such, you are advised to clear any outstanding debts via epayments as soon as you can to ensure this doesn’t prevent you from attending your ceremony.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you talk to our finance department about any outstanding payments and clear your account in full before graduation.

To find out more about your account and seek advice, please contact either the Student Centre on 01494 603 020 or thestudentcentre@bnu.ac.uk or the Finance Department on 01494 605 083.

Deadline to request a refund: Friday 9 February 2024

If you buy tickets and then find you have not been made an award by the Board of Examiners, you will not be able to graduate. For example, if you have been granted reassessment. In this event, a refund for the tickets will be made and you will be invited to the next scheduled graduation event for your course, following the successful completion of your course.

If you purchase guest tickets and your guests are then unable to attend graduation, a refund may be available. Refunds must be requested by Friday 9 February 2024.

To request a refund, please log on to where you purchased your tickets and follow the instructions for refunds. Please contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly regarding your gown hire.

The graduation ceremonies are regarded as public events. The University will be taking photographs throughout the ceremonies for use in future publications on the University's website and for marketing materials. We may also film the ceremony for live streaming and/or viewing on a social media platform such as YouTube after the event. By purchasing any ticket and in attending the ceremony, you are agreeing to be photographed and filmed.

Once you have booked tickets for yourself and your guests, please ensure that you have completed the additional tasks:
