Laptops are available for Bucks students to borrow at our High Wycombe and Uxbridge libraries. Self-service cabinets are on the 3rd floor of the High Wycombe Library and the 1st floor at the Uxbridge Library.
Need to borrow a laptop?
Laptops are self-service. Scan your ID card and take the laptop from the locker number shown. Unplug and borrow it for up to 4hrs. Help is available from the IT Service Desk. You will have access to standard University software, Microsoft office, Wi-Fi and printing facilities.
Need to return a laptop?
Log the laptop off but leave it powered on. Return it to the self-service cabinet. Scan your ID card and replace the laptop in the locker number shown, remembering to plug it in to charge.
Laptop loan rules
- The laptop counts as one of your loans
- Library fines must be under £6.40 to borrow one
- Fines of £1 per hour or part hour for late return are charged
- £700 will be charged for damage or non-return
- They are only for use on campus via University network
- Available first come, first served with no renewal or reservation
- Save data or files to your network drive or USB stick as they will be lost on log off

The Bucks Knowledge Archive is an invaluable resource that showcases the wealth of research and creative work that our staff and researchers carry out.
In the archive, you'll find everything from full-text journal articles and abstracts through to book chapters, monographs, conference papers and proceedings, PhD theses and creative work.
The library is open for you to use, however to keep you and others safe we have introduced the Click and Sit service. If you wish to study in the library, you will need to book a space in advance using this simple booking site. By booking a space in advance you are supporting the library to track and trace to keep everyone safe. There are different spaces and categories available to meet your needs:
Short stay computers
These are available for 15-30 minutes for you to check your emails, send something to print, or book a longer slot. You can use these spaces for up to 1 hour per day, but back to back bookings are not allowed. Booking slots begin every 5 minutes and can be placed or cancelled at any time.
Standard study spaces and computers
Most of the study spaces and computers in the library are in this category. You can choose a space with power if you have a laptop, a computer, or just a study desk. These spaces can be booked for 1-2 hours, after 2 hours you should take a break before another booking. Booking slots begin every 15 minutes and can be placed or cancelled at any time. You can use these spaces for up to 5 hours each day.
Priority study spaces and computers
Study spaces on floor 5 have been designated ‘priority’ these are for students who are unable to study from home. There are a limited number of priority spaces so please consider your own circumstances and those of your fellow students before booking. These spaces can be booked for 2-4 hours at a time, with a maximum of two bookings per day. Booking slots begin every 30 minutes and can be placed or cancelled at any time.
