What do I need to do now?

Graduation registration is now open

If you are due to complete your award this academic year you are invited to attend graduation and should receive a postcard inviting you to register. Please make sure that you have informed the Student Centre of any changes to your contact details.

Invitations have been sent to home addresses in time for the Easter break. If your home address is overseas but you have a UK term time address, your invitation will have been sent to your UK registered address. For students with no UK address you will receive your invitation via email only. If you are eligible to graduate this year and have not received your postcard, don't panic. You can still register.

DEADLINE - You must register your attendance by midnight, 4 August 2019.

Students will not be able to attend their ceremony if they have not registered before the deadline.

You need to register immediately and not wait for your results even if you are not ready to purchase your guest tickets yet.

You can always go back into your registration to purchase your guest tickets at a later time. To register you need to follow the link on the Registration and Guest Tickets page and log on using your student ID number and date of birth. Once logged on, you will know which ceremony you will be attending and you can register your attendance or confirm that you will not be attending (you will then graduate 'in absentia').

In absentia

If you register as 'in absentia' your certificate will be sent to your home address shortly after the ceremonies. When you register you will be asked to confirm your home address. If you intend to move house around this time please let us know your new address as soon as possible.

Special access requirements - DEADLINE - 4 AUGUST 2019

During the booking process you will be asked if you, the student, have any access or mobility requirements which may affect your participation in the ceremony. Please note during the ceremony you will cross the stage in the Swan Theatre and shake hands with the Vice-Chancellor.

You will be required to go up 6 steps and then down 6 steps on the other side of the stage. Both sets of steps have a handrail on the right side. Alternative access to the stage will be arranged for you if required, so please include a brief description of your requirements and we will contact you a couple of weeks before the ceremony to discuss how we will assist you.


You are advised to book and pay for your guest tickets when you register. Each student can initially purchase up to three guest tickets. Please see the Guest Information page for further details and how to purchase additional tickets.


If you book a gown and have not registered your attendance you will not be able to attend the ceremony.

There is no hire charge for academic gowns to students. This applies to all students. However, you must still book your gown through Ede & Ravenscroft to ensure you wear the correct gown and have the right size. Your gown and hood will automatically be selected for you when you enter your student ID. You must wear the correct gown for the University and your award. If you are not gowned correctly you will not be allowed to cross the stage at the ceremony.

You can also book your gown hire with Ede & Ravenscroft by calling 01223 861 854 and you must book it well in advance of your graduation day.

Please remember to bring your Ede & Ravenscroft gown hire confirmation on the day of your ceremony.

Please note: PhDs are awards of Brunel or Coventry University.

Returning your gown

You must return your gown to Studio 2, The Gateway by 5.30pm on the day of your ceremony.

Cancelling your gown

If you are unable to attend your ceremony after placing an order for gown hire, you must contact Ede & Ravenscroft at least seven working days before the date of the ceremony to cancel your order.


This is your opportunity to nominate the tutor who has most inspired you to achieve your award during your time at Bucks, for the Most Inspiring Tutor Award. It will only take a couple of minutes to complete the nomination and your comments will be greatly appreciated. The winners will be announced at the appropriate ceremony.

Nominate a Tutor


You will be able to have professional photographs taken on the day by Ede & Ravenscroft; however to avoid the queues we recommend that you pre-book your photographs with Ede & Ravenscroft at gownhire.co.uk or call 01223 861 854. By pre-booking online you will benefit from a discounted rate. The photographers will be situated in the Events Hall each day. We recommend you arrive early and have your photos taken before the ceremony.

Photographs taken on stage

Ede and Ravenscroft photographers will be taking photos of each graduand as they cross the stage. Those who have pre-booked their gown hire will automatically receive an email from Ede and Ravenscroft after their Graduation giving instructions on how to access and purchase their photo. Those who do not pre-book can still view and purchase the stage photos by emailing awards@edeandravenscroft.com stating the date of their ceremony and the name of the university.

Please remember to bring your Ede & Ravenscroft pre-booked photography confirmation with you.
