Charlotte's Story

Charlotte's Story

One of our BA (Hons) Graphic Design students, Charlotte, recently spoke to us about how the past three years at Buckinghamshire New University have been for her.

Whenever I have needed support, my lecturers and tutors have always been quick to respond, and gone out of their way to help in any way they can. They go above and beyond, while taking the time to get to know each student.

Charlotte shared that although she was not 100% set on attending university, once she had seen our facilities and current student work she knew then that Bucks was the place for her. “Before visiting Bucks, I was not convinced on the idea of going to University. The unique facilities the Uni has to offer, alongside the friendliness of the staff, and the smaller sized classes assured me that this was the course for me. Before joining, I attended the end of year art and design show and was really inspired by the work produced by the students.”

Throughout her time with Bucks, Charlotte feels like she has been supported through the close relationships she formed with her lecturers and classmates. “Whenever I have needed support, my lecturers and tutors have always been quick to respond, and gone out of their way to help in any way they can. They go above and beyond, while taking the time to get to know each student. There is a close relationships between students and staff due to the smaller class sizes, which is great and isn’t an experience I would have had in bigger universities. ”

Though other universities offer similar courses, Buckinghamshire New University can offer the whole package, as Charlotte confirms. “The state-of-the-art equipment in the Red Shed is not something most Uni’s offer to their students on creative courses. There is lots of opportunity to engage in competitions as well as collaborate with companies who have approached the University. As well as this the quality of teaching I have received has been amazing. Our tutors ensure we get as much contact time as possible, whether that be working in the studio, workshops or lectures.”
