Wayne's Story

Bucks New University celebrated the achievements of its military students with a ceremony for 58 graduates who have studied BA (Hons) Organisational Capability Development.

With uniforms and medals proudly worn alongside graduation gowns the ceremony also featured an Honorary Doctorate bestowed on Wing Commander Piers Morrell, the RAF Director of Music.

Unlike their full-time colleagues these students study whilst working in the military in the UK and abroad. "This leads to some difficult situation, but all completed the course and successfully received their degrees. Well done to all of them.

Student  Sophia Pegg also received an Overall Performance Award in the School of Aviation and Security, for her hard work and completing the last six months of her degree while working overseas, away from her family.

Wayne added: "We were delighted to also welcome Air Commodore Richard Hill, Head of the RAF Logistics Trades and Branches, as an honorary guest for the graduation ceremony.

"The BA (Hons) Organisational Capability Development course is a business and management degree that specialises in either aviation or resilience and is highly popular with the Armed Forces."

More than 120 students are set to join the next cohort, starting in late-September.
