Buckinghamshire New University is in the top quartile for higher education institutions in the UK according to the 2019 National Student Survey, exceeding the sector average in almost every area of the survey.

Results published last week show that the University ranks 29th out of 151 higher education institutions for students’ satisfaction with its courses and teaching, averaged across the survey’s 27 questions.

Sixteen of the University’s courses scored in excess of 90 per cent, five of which celebrated 100 per cent satisfaction.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nick Braisby, said the University was delighted to maintain its strong record of providing excellent student satisfaction.

Professor Braisby added: “At Bucks we pride ourselves on transforming lives through employment-focused and skills-based education which enables students from all backgrounds to achieve their ambitions. Last year we celebrated huge success in the survey, with students rating our performance as improved across every single category. We are pleased that we have held on to those gains this year, and are again ranked in the top quartile of UK higher education institutions. These successes are testament to our students and to the hard work and dedication of our staff.”

The key highlights in NSS 2019 are:

• Five courses gaining 100 per cent satisfaction: BA (Hons) Creative Advertising, BA (Hons) Dance and Performance, BA (Hons) Fashion Design, BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance, and BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy;
• Ten other courses scoring 90 per cent or more for student satisfaction. These are BA (Hons) Sport Business Management, BSc (Hons) Computing, BSc (Hons) Social Work, BSc (Hons) Criminological Psychology, BSc (Hons) Criminology, BSc (Hons) Psychology, BA (Hons) Music Business, BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health), Diploma of Higher Education Operating Department Practice, and Foundation Degree (Arts) Early Years Practice; and
• Bucks Students’ Union scoring 18 per cent higher than sector average for representing students’ academic interests.
