Nick said: "I am delighted to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor, and proud to lead an institution with an historic mission to transform the lives of students through employment-focused and skills-based education.

“The higher education sector faces considerable challenges, but Bucks will succeed by ensuring we help each and every student to reach their full potential, placing the student experience at the heart of all we do, and by working in partnership with all our stakeholders – employers, partners, staff, students, and the Students’ Union.”

Professor Braisby is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. He has held posts at London South Bank University, the University of Winchester, the Open University and London Guildhall University.

Dr Michael Hipkins, Chair of the University Council, said: "I am very pleased that Nick will lead the University through our next stage of development. Nick has already made a significant and valued contribution at Bucks, including his drive to develop our course profile and enhance the student experience. Nick’s appointment ensures that the University is now well placed to meet the challenges the higher education sector is facing.”

Lauren O’Shea, President of Bucks Students’ Union, said: “We’ve built up a really strong working relationship with Nick in his previous role, and I was pleased to be involved in the robust recruitment process which has seen him appointed as Vice-Chancellor. On behalf of Bucks Students’ Union, I’d like to extend huge congratulations to Nick. We’re excited to continue working with him on a range of projects to improve the student experience to which Nick has always been committed.”

Nick studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge and then read for a PhD in Cognitive Science at the University of Edinburgh. He obtained a British Academy postdoctoral research fellowship held at the London School of Economics.
