Bucks Students' Union rated 'excellent'

Bucks Students’ Union has become the first ever to be awarded ‘Excellent’, after their initial accreditation, in all 12 areas of the Quality Students’ Union (QSU) scheme run by the NUS and are now one of only two unions in the UK to be rated as excellent across the board.

Designed to assure the quality, standards and overall effectiveness of students’ unions, the QSU quality mark assesses performance in areas ranging from participation and impact to strategic planning and services.

Bucks Students’ Union received its award at a reception in the Houses of Parliament (18 July), hosted by Paul Bloomfield MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Students.

Bucks Students' Union President, Tao Warburton, said: "Securing the highest possible accreditation re-affirms our position as one of the best run students’ unions in the UK, and highlights the amazing opportunities we provide for our members.

"A major tenet of our submission focused on the success of the Big Deal in removing barriers to participation for Bucks students across a breadth of opportunities.

"This scheme itself is designed to boost skills development and employment prospects and includes free access to sports, societies, skills workshops and other fantastic opportunities."

In particular, the report highlighted the positive work the Union carries out in partnership with the University and its sector leading satisfaction amongst students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Professor Nick Braisby, Vice-Chancellor, said: “We are thrilled that Bucks Students’ Union has achieved excellent across the board in the QSU scheme. This accolade is testament to the Union’s efforts and hard work, and we are proud to work in partnership to transform the lives of all students at Bucks.”
