Students work on live projects with businesses
Second-year students on Buckinghamshire New University’s Business Management, Marketing, and Accounting and Finance degrees have undertaken a range of live projects with businesses.
Students worked with companies including The National Trust’s Hughenden Manor, social enterprise Khepera, CSSC Sports & Leisure, Hounds for Heroes, and Bucks New University’s Gateway Gym.
The students worked in groups as consultants to the organisations, responding to a specific brief and developing solutions for a defined business problem.
The work included:
Researching how a charity could engage with younger audiences and donors
Creating a ranking system of traits/ factors to assess when a football/sports club may be at risk of folding, and proposing solutions
Determining the viability of introducing a members’ lottery to a not-for-profit organisation
Researching how technology will impact the future of business.
The students rounded off the work by holding a showcase event of their activity in The Room at the University’s High Wycombe Campus.
Senior Lecturer Mary Simpson said: “There was a real buzz around the place at the showcase event as the students were able to demonstrate how they had put the learning from their degree programmes in to practice.
“It was a great event and all the guests commented on how well the students had done.”
