Military graduates who studied for a BA (Hons) Organisational Capability Development degree with Buckinghamshire New University have collected their certificates during a week of celebrations.

Bucks New University Vice-Chancellor Professor Rebecca Bunting presented the graduates, from the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, with their degrees in a ceremony at the Wycombe Swan theatre in High Wycombe.

Course Leader Wayne Palmer said: “We were delighted to award degree certificates to a range of graduates in the military who studied around the country and overseas. The course continues to grow and benefit the UK’s Armed Forces.

“Students studied far and wide and went to great lengths to complete their degrees, with one servicewoman even overcoming the constant challenge of slow Internet speed while stationed in the Falkland Islands to ensure she succeeded.”

Gareth Campion, a Flight Lieutenant based at the Permanent Joint Headquarters in Northwood, Middlesex, won an Outstanding Achievement in Business Management Award. He said: “I welcomed the opportunity to participate in higher education and thoroughly enjoyed the learning process.”

Attendees at the graduation ceremony included Group Captain Robb Woods, Station Commander at RAF High Wycombe. He saw Sergeant Ben Smart, who is stationed at RAF High Wycombe, receive his degree.

In total, nearly 2,000 graduates collected their degree certificates during a week of a celebrations at Bucks New University.
