A third-year BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Design student at Buckinghamshire New University is among three finalists in the prestigious Eastpak Artist Studio Wildcard Competition.
Zeba Safdar is down to the final three in the competition, which has attracted entries from around the world and for whom voting is open until Thursday 29 September.
The competition brief involved coming up with an original design for transforming a blank Eastpak Padded Pak'r® backpack into a unique work of art.
Zeba has used PVC with hand-knitted and stitched details and features including knitted overlay, tassels, and braided shoulder straps for her design.
Were she to win Zeba would be provided with the budget to make her idea a reality and it would go on sale, alongside work by 11 other artists, as part of a fundraising drive on World AIDS Day on 1 December.
Rosie Cate, BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Design Course Leader, said: "I would encourage as many people as possible to vote for Zeba!"
