A Bucks New University graduate admits she shed more than a few tears on her way to achieving a first-class honours degree in Law but that all the hard work had paid off.

She said she was 'thrilled and humbled' to win the award.

Tazaiyan said: "To complete a Law degree was tough and I remember wanting to give up many times and there were a few tears along the way but receiving the letter to say I had won the award made it all worthwhile and made my parents even more proud of me.

"During the three-year degree I have been consistent with my work ethic and I believe that my hard work was noticed by the lecturers, plus I contributed to extra-curricular activities, including taking on the roles of first secretary and then chair of The Mooting Society."

Taz BaigTazaiyan is now starting a Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law in Guildford, Surrey, and is currently carrying out a placement at Lawgate Solicitors in Slough and aims to become a solicitor.

Speaking about her education at Bucks New University, she said: "The main contribution from Bucks New University was my lecturers. They had an open door policy so that if you had any questions or needed any help whatever the time they were always there or could easily be contacted.

"All of the lecturers were amazing but Dr Lars Mosesson and Dr Frances Burton were extremely supportive and I honestly believe that without them I would not have been able to get the result I did. They believed in me when I didn't!

"Dr Mosesson also pushed me to go for an Erasmus scheme which involved a semester abroad in Heidelberg, Germany, which was an incredible experience and had I been at any other university I truly doubt I would have got that opportunity."Taz Baig

Dr Mosesson, Senior Lecturer in Law, said: "Taz has contributed to the Law School in so many ways - academically, through the mooting and through the Erasmus programme - over her three years at Bucks.  I am delighted that she has been given this award, as it is thoroughly deserved.

"It has been a pleasure to have worked with her, and I am sure she will continue to succeed in her career as a solicitor."

Tazaiyan was supported at her graduation by her parents, Shahbaz Baig, who works for a pharmaceutical company, Orouj Baig, duty manager at a retail company and her brother Shiraz Baig, an internal account and sales support manager.
