Date: 23rd Jun 2016

Buckinghamshire New University's Missenden Abbey Conference Centre is holding its annual Summer Fair on Sunday 10 July, from 11am-3pm, in aid of Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

This year's event, which is being held in memory of former employee Martin Brown, is set to feature more than 80 craft stalls, hot air balloon rides, large inflatables, children's activities, a beer tent, local dance groups, a BBQ and a charity raffle.

The Summer Fair, which is open to the public and will be held in the ten-acre grounds of the 12th century Abbey in Great Missenden, will begin with the 'Great Missenden Bake Off', with ladies from the local Women's Institute judging cakes produced by the public. Once the judging is complete and the winner announced, guests of the fair will be able to enjoy the cakes for a donation to the charity.

Katie Shrives, Marketing Executive at Missenden Abbey, said: "Last year, Missenden Abbey raised more than £1,100 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care and we are proud to be continuing to fundraise for the charity this year. Martin Brown was Missenden Abbey's longest serving employee and sadly he lost his battle with cancer in December. Rennie Grove Hospice Care were there for Martin during his struggle and we want to continue our support of the important work that the charity carries out."

Rennie Grove Hospice Care provides care and support for patients in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire who have been diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses.

Entry to the Summer Fair will cost £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s, with proceeds being donated to the charity in memory of Martin Brown. To enter a cake into the bake off, book a stall or find out more, please contact Missenden Abbey on 01494 866811.
