A Buckinghamshire New University Audio and
Music Production graduate has won an award for the quality of his work from home entertainment retailer Richer Sounds, an industry partner of Bucks New University .
Nicholas Lucas won the award for his dedication and the high technical standard of his work throughout his degree and graduated with first-class honours during a graduation ceremony at Wycombe Swan Theatre in High Wycombe.
Nicholas said he particularly enjoyed working with Film and Television Production graduate Ashlee Sutherland on a dissertation film called Maddison.
Nicholas said: "I really didn't expect to win this prize but I am very grateful to be noticed in this way.
"Maddison was one of the best projects I worked on during my time at Bucks New University.
"I basically worked on all aspects of the sound, from on-set recording through to composing, sound design, and post production.
"It's one of my favourite finished products, but all credit for making it possible goes to Ashlee Sutherland. It wouldn't have existed without her writing and fantastic direction!"
Nicholas is now living in London and running an online education company called Production Bytes, specialising in dance music production. He is also in the support team at Squared Online, an online digital marketing course run in partnership with Google.
Warren Bassett, course leader, Audio and Music Production, said: "It is great to have support from a key player in the industry like Richer Sounds which recognises the potential of graduating students and rewards their talent with awards for their work."
A Richer Sounds spokesman said: "We are proud to support Bucks New University and provide this award. The standard of work from the University's Audio and Music Production students is always of a professional level and this is true of Nicholas Lucas who produced an outstanding piece of work."
Nicolas received his degree certificate and a prize of £75 worth of Richer Sounds vouchers in the presence of family and friends alongside Bucks New University students and honorary graduates at the University's graduation ceremonies.
