Bucks has a thriving events scene for you to enjoy and get involved in. There is all sorts on offer – from art and design shows, to conferences and public lectures, to music events, and much, much more.
Our Students’ Union organises some of the most exciting events in the area, on campus and at venues locally. We can also arrange preferential rates for lots of external events.
It might be a visiting speaker on a subject that supports your studies or interests you personally. Or perhaps a gig, a theatre production, or a workshop that introduces you to a new creative endeavour. Maybe an art or design exhibition? Whatever takes your fancy, you won’t be short of options – or like-minded people to discover and share great experiences with.
Below are just some hints at the great things going on each year at Bucks Uni. You can also check out our YouTube channel, Bucks Student TV , to find out more.

This is an epic festival of music, food and partying for all tastes, right here at Bucks. Held each year in May, Festiball is an end-of-year party like no other, where everyone can let their hair down and have some serious fun.
Like any respectable festival, it runs for three full-on days, but unlike most festivals – or other universities’ end-of-year balls – it’s completely free to our students, thanks to the Big Deal.
Our Public Lecture Series gives you the chance to hear from a range of high-profile speakers in a wide spectrum of subjects. All our public lectures are free, and most offer the opportunity to put questions to speakers in open sessions after the main presentations.
To support your studies, Bucks aims to organise public lectures throughout the academic year to cover a wide range of course-related subjects, and to have an emphasis on some of our key areas of research work.
Each year, Bucks runs an art and design exhibition from across its courses and faculties, showcasing students’ work.
In June, we inject the High Wycombe Campus with an explosion of colour and creativity, and invite fellow students and the public to admire the creative output of our students in Bucks’ School of Arts and Creative Industries.
Every July, the picturesque village of Penn in Buckinghamshire hosts a 2-day family friendly music festival known as PennFest. This event offers something for everyone, including both contemporary and established performers, creative workshops, an artisan market and a dance tent with guest DJs.
