Course Overview

This course is offered as a four year programme, including an initial Foundation Year. The Foundation Year will allow you to develop your academic study skills and build confidence in your abilities, identifying your own strengths and development needs for progression onto an undergraduate degree.

Products and equipment can help enhance sports performance. From specially-designed protective clothing, to kit that facilitates better training programmes. It’s a rapidly growing area of product design, and this course equips you to make your mark in it.

Love sport and want to be a product designer? Here’s a degree that combines the two.

Design skills + scientific knowledge

Design skills are one thing. But it’s the scientific knowledge to back those up that will take your skills, and products, to the next level in this exciting field of design. The course builds your core product design capabilities, while also giving you the scientific know-how to develop functional products that athletes and sports teams will want to use.

Industry equipment and live projects

Put your designs through their paces. You’ll use our state-of-the-art human performance lab to test out the products you develop and get evidence of their impact on sports performance. Exploring different solutions, you’ll work in a number of different areas with real clients on live projects.

Get ahead in this exciting sector

Specialist skills in this field could take you into all sorts of exciting areas such as sports product design, sports technology, specialist prototyping, model making, industrial design or CAD visualisation. The portfolio you develop, and industry experience you gain, will put you in a great position for jobs.
