Course Overview

This innovative degree provides you with the skills and inside knowledge needed to work in festival and event management. During this course you’ll combine theory with practical work placements and gain a broad understanding of how events are planned, marketed, developed and run.

What will this course cover?

From the very beginning of this course you’ll mix both theory and practice. We link you with a local charity and help you to organise a variety of different fundraising events, giving you hands-on experience.

You’ll spend time focusing on the trends shaping the event and festival industry, with a strong emphasis on safety. You’ll take key modules in marketing, event strategy and hospitality. We’ll also teach you about events rights and merchandising, sustainability and logistics.

This dynamic course is constantly developing in line with a fast-moving industry. You'll finish your degree with the most up to date knowledge and skills, ready to enter employment.

Work at leading events and festivals

Subject to selection interviews, paid work experience will be available to you on this course along with a number of volunteering opportunities. Previous organisations include Reading and Leeds Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Goodwood, the UK Festival Awards, the London Marathon and Wembley.

In the second year of study you’ll spend time on an assessed work placement. Former students have done this with wedding planners and international events companies in Africa, Asia and Europe.

More placements, more choices

Bucks is a Placement Plus university. So, whatever degree you do, you can be sure there’ll be plenty of industry-relevant opportunities on offer, to help you get into your chosen field.

Placements Plus is all about helping you get some valuable experience under your belt while you’re a student. To increase your choices later, and help you get the graduate-level job you want.
