You’ll develop specialist insight, and acquire the skills and contacts to maximise the many opportunities open to you in the security and related industries.

Operate with confidence

The course has been designed to give prospective and practising security consultants the skills and knowledge to operate with confidence in this sector.

Blending the academic framework for consultancy practices, with the security needs and requirements for today’s businesses, we’ll cover the key areas of knowledge you need to get ahead in the field.

You’ll delve into everything from threat and risk, and the security of crowded places, to cyber security, terrorism studies and organisational resilience.

Practical and flexible

As well as covering off the more fundamental elements of security processes, we’ll develop your key project planning, management and strategic skills. You’ll also carry out your own research, related to your workplace or interests.

Delivered as a distance learning programme, you can study this course flexibly alongside your work or other commitments.

Work with industry specialists

Bucks has strong connections to the security industry. You’ll work with specialist academics who have all had military or police service, or commercial experience, and continue to practise today. We’ll support you to build your knowledge, network and work opportunities.

Ed Mills

‘I decided to take the BA (Hons) in Security Consultancy after leaving the army and working in the security industry for a few years. The main reason for doing the course is its relevance to my industry and that the tutors are experienced in our field. It has really helped to increase my understanding and build on my existing knowledge. I am now Chief Operating Officer and Company Director of Vigilance properties Ltd.

I would highly recommend the course to anyone either working or thinking about working in the security industry. Although it has been hard work juggling a busy job and young family, it has been an extremely worthwhile and well supported course’.

Employability

What are my career prospects

By the end of the programme, you will be well placed to maximise on employment opportunities in commercial security. It could help with promotion prospects within your current organisation or you could also take your specialist skills into the oil and gas sector or other extractive industries, work amongst the NGO community or realise an ambition to run your own consultancy.
