There are many skills required of an adept and effective protective security manager, who may be responsible for the protection of high net worth individuals, teams working in hostile environments and multi-million-pound projects. This programme is designed to provide prospective and practicing protective security operators and managers with a range of skills, and develop knowledge, in order to be able to operate with competence, skills and confidence within the security sector.
This accelerated two-year degree programme will provide students with an academically rigorous, relevant and current industry-related course which will allow them to provide business-orientated protective security based upon knowledge, best practice and regulatory guidance. Whilst the accelerated nature of the programme leads to an intensive and challenging student experience, it also provides a clear opportunity for students to obtain their qualification in a reduced timescale; allowing them to begin their career at an earlier stage.
This programme is designed to meet the needs of students who have not been able, until now, to access a single degree-level qualification in Protective Security Management. The course will provide a solid educational basis for the protective security manager to achieve results in a multi-disciplined and increasingly technologically enabled sector.
The course is delivered via Flexible and Distributed Learning, meaning that the majority of your learning will be online; with dedicated and specialist tutor support readily available, and specific, targeted workshops throughout the programme.
The tutors involved in this course are industry specialists, with an understanding of the demands of such a programme for those in employment. The programme will also involve industry and sector contributions and guest lectures to provide the immediacy and currency that are essential for education in a changing risk landscape.

This programme is designed to provide prospective and practicing protective security operators and managers with a range of skills and develop knowledge in order to be able to operate with confidence within the security sector; and importantly to be able to build and demonstrate the essential management capabilities that organisations need.
This 2-year programme is intensive, and runs from September to August in each of its two years. This structure means that students will need to be prepared to manage and undertake a significant workload to the same standards of academic rigour as those for a full time 3-year undergraduate degree. This is a significant challenge and students should be prepared for, and will be supported throughout, this intensive study process. In practice, students will be in continuous study for every month over the 2-year duration of the course.
This award provides a sequential and progressive educational process through which you will be able to develop your security and specialist knowledge. From an initial focus on the more fundamental elements of security processes, the programme will address the requirements for project planning and management skills and knowledge, before moving towards the development of strategic and other essential functions. Throughout the programme will require you to reflect on your own capabilities and the skills and knowledge that you need in order to contribute effectively to organisational capability.
Having developed the skills and knowledge sets, graduates of this programme will be fully equipped to enter the world of protective security management. This knowledge, coupled with experience as your career develops, will allow you to stand out amongst peers in this challenging and competitive environment.
