What will I study?
The course examines both general and specific areas of aviation management with topics including:
- global aviation leadership and management
- aviation business
- globalised aviation industry
- aviation organisational resilience
- independent project.

Our library is the perfect place to find the resources you need and a quiet place to study, filled with four floors of books, journals, computer suites and study rooms. Or, if you’d rather work off campus, e-Journals and resources are only a few clicks away using our Virtual Learning Environment.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Throughout the course, you will be taught through a series of interactive lectures, seminars, presentations, as well as independent and group study.
The course is practice-based, supported by contextual studies, and is structured to allow you to develop autonomous study, where relevant, linked to your own organisation. By adopting self-directed and self-initiated study, you can capitalise on your own activities and experiences.
You will split your learning into two-week blocks. This face-to-face learning helps to build your analytical capabilities, confidence and knowledge by engaging with those whose business it is to make aviation operations management successful in the most challenging circumstances.
You’ll have a variety of interesting and diverse assessments to help build the levels of confidence that will support career progression, including:

- assignments
- ePortfolios
There is a three week online programme (based on two online classes a week) to support academic writing and researching expected at this level, which you can follow from home in your own time to develop your academic skills.
What are the course entry requirements?
The University’s general entry requirements will apply to admission to this programme with the following additions / exceptions:
- UG ( 2:1 or above) or five years relevant work experience, English level IELTS 6.5 or University requirement at the time.
If you do not meet the entry requirements you may, if you have relevant professional experience, still be invited for interview, where you will be required to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and understanding for entry onto the course.
Previous study, professional and / or vocational experiences may be recognised as the equivalent learning experience and permit exemption from studying certain modules in accordance with our accreditation of prior learning (APL) process.

Emergency Planning Society student membership is included in the price of the programme.
What are my career prospects?
On successful completion of this award, you will find your employment prospects enhanced and understanding of the multiple facets of aviation operations and management significantly deepened.
Managers will have gained the requisite knowledge and analytical skills to enable them to perform at higher management levels within their organisations; recent graduates or people employed outside the aviation sector are more likely to be able to obtain employment in relevant industries; and current employees will be better equipped to seek promotion.
Aside from roles in operations and aviation leadership, you could find a position in areas such as air traffic control, emergency planning, sustainability roles and general aviation projects, amongst many more.
All graduates will have also developed transferable skills that can be used in a wide range of employment roles.
