Off-the-job Training

Off-the-job Training

Off-the-job training entails dedicating time to acquire new skills, knowledge, and behaviours outside your daily work tasks. Following the latest ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) guidelines, all apprentices must allocate a minimum of 6 hours each week to Off-the-job training throughout their apprenticeship. The precise number of Off-the-job hours necessary to complete the apprenticeship is determined at the program's commencement.

To ensure compliance and accurate tracking of Off-the-job training, all apprentices must record their Off-the-job hours using our learner management system, Aptem. Aptem is a comprehensive platform that supports apprentices in creating their Individual Learning Plan, maintaining their e-portfolio, and providing evidence of the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours required by the relevant Apprenticeship Standard. It also facilitates the monitoring of apprentices' progress throughout their program.

Your employer is responsible for ensuring that you have sufficient work-based learning opportunities, which are essential for meeting your Off-the-job training requirements in line with ESFA guidelines. If you have any questions or need more clarification, please don't hesitate to contact a member of your Academic Team, who will be able to help you.
