Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2013, I started my nursing career graduating from Middlesex University in 1995. My first nursing post was on acute paediatric medical/surgical unit at Northwick Park Hospital. I then moved to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, working on a very busy Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. I continued to work in Paediatric intensive Care specialising in the care of patients the Cardio-Respiratory Conditions at Great Ormond Street Hospital and later at the Royal Brompton Hospital. During this period I was awarded a Masters in Cardio-Respiratory Nursing from Imperial College London. I have worked in education for the past 12 years starting at London South Bank University and Whipps Cross University Hospital as a Lecturer Practitioner.

I studied for my MSc in Cardio-Respiratory Nursing at Imperial College London and my specialist area of interest is the professional identify of nurses. It is interesting area because nurses still struggle to uniquely quantify their role within the multi-disciplinary team.

I am a member of the Higher Education Academy and the Royal College of Nurses.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with at the leading paediatric centres for cardiovascular medicine and nursing care in the UK: Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Royal Brompton Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

My greatest accolades to date is meeting the current Prime Minister Boris Johnson and presenting at The Capital Nurse Conference in London.
