Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2013, I was a Practice Educator in Critical Care at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading for 13 years. In total, I now have 28 years ITU experience in Liver transplant HDU and ITU in Newcastle upon Tyne before moving to Reading. I completed my nurse training at The Royal Free Hospital, London.

I studied for my PGCE in Health and Social Care at Reading University in 2008 and completed my MSc Advance Nurse Practice in 2014 at University of West London and my specialist area of interest is Critical Care and Mentorship/Assessors. Critical Care is interesting because I am passionate about ITU nursing and love seeing my students’ confidence grow through their study.

I am a member of NMC, RCN and British Association Critical Care Nurses.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with lots of local trusts such as Imperial, Hillingdon and Chelsea and Westminster on projects such as Sepsis Study days, ILS courses and Mentorship updates. I am a Lecturer at West Middlesex hospital and am now the Professional Nurse Advocate supporting nurses in practice.

My greatest accolade to date is passing my MSc Advance Nurse Practice and presenting my dissertation findings at the BACCN conference in Cardiff on 2014.
