Dr Elisavet Kalpaxi

Elisavet Kalpaxi is a lecturer in Critical and Contextual Studies, leading and delivering the Critical and Historical Studies Modules (CHS) across Levels 4-6 in the School of Art, Design and Performance.

She is specialised in Fine Art, Design and Media and her discursive interests lie with current shifts in critical theory and debate relating to visual and material culture, changing narratives influenced by both technological and socio-political/economic developments, and practice-based research. Her PhD thesis was on ‘Narcissism and Narrativity in Photographic Self-portraiture’ (Goldsmiths, University of London Department of Art, 2012), and she has presented her work at numerous exhibitions, conferences, and publications internationally.
