Dr Fiona McCormack

Biography

Fiona provides leadership in areas of education and enterprise within the sports field. She has developed the reputation of Bucks New University in the area of performance sport leading the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme delivery, recognition as a Swim England Performance Centre and Academic Partner for the Football Association Women’s Super League Academies. Current projects include the application for dual career accreditation.

Fiona is an active researcher and seek opportunities to link her research to either my role in education or wider professional activity. This includes supporting opportunities for impact studies focussed on the psychological support provided for young athletes in the FA women’s football project performance. Recent PhD supervision includes work on employability and educational experiences.
Her role in education includes mentoring, assessment and teaching design, moderation and observation.

Fiona is actively involved in supporting partnerships institutions and the development of new courses. This has included collaboration cross faculty such as BA(Hons) Sport Product Design course to reflect the growing interest in the sports sector succesfully endorsed by the IED. She has focussed on improving student experience and satisfaction by working with our students to introduce changes to the way we teach and assess them. This has supported NSS overal satisfation of 100% in some sports courses.

Fiona has lead on developing enterprise activity in our human perfromance facility increasing the number of public fitness assessments both for local clubs, professional sports teams and individuals.
