Biography

Geeta Lamichhane is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the Bucks New University. She was qualified as a registered Nurse in 2004 from the University of West London (formerly known as the Thames valley University). Her 12 years nursing career spanned around the various clinical areas from being a staff nurse to a Matron in two different NHS Trusts (Northwick Park Hospital and Ealing Hospital). She received her MSc from the University of West London in 2015 and moved to the Bucks New University as a Senior Lecturer in June 2016. In addition to teaching, Mrs Lamichhane spends significant time in resolving the student related issues as her role revolves around this aspects within the Practice Learning Unit. She is also heavily involved with mapping the placements for Registered Nurse Degree Apprentices, negotiating and arranging the appropriate placement for these students. Currently, she is involved in a research project on: Support provided to pre-registration healthcare students whilst on placements in clinical and therapeutic areas by staff employed by Higher Education Institutes (HEIs). This research is being done in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire, South Central Area Placement partnership (SCAPP) and Bucks New University. She is really looking forward to the outcome of this research which will be quite relevant to the Practice Learning area, and hopes that it will provide the guidance for the effective practice learning support. She currently lives in London with her husband and two teenage children.
