Biography

I’m Phil Wood and as Head of School of Aviation and Security I am responsible for Aviation, Tourism, Policing, Security, Resilience and Military courses at Bucks.  Before joining the University in 2009, I was a commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force Regiment and worked with an internationally recognised corporate resilience training company. Throughout my career, I have been involved in and led organisational capability planning and implementation, as well as training development, coordination and provision to many audiences and professionals globally. I am proud to lead my team of professional, dedicated and supportive tutors and lecturers whose aim is to prepare our students for the best possible start to their chosen careers.

I’m a Chartered Security Professional, a Fellow of the Security Institute; a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Technical Specialist Member of the Institute of Risk Management, an Honorary Member of the Business Continuity Institute, a Founder Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management, a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Bucks is all about developing capability in our students and getting them to achieve to their potential; and I am dedicated to ensuring that the School of Aviation and Security is at the forefront in all aspects of what we do for our students and their chosen industries.
