Dr Maria Ansbro

Biography

I have a background in the Probation Service, and for some years I have taught criminal justice and social work in Higher Education. I am registered as a social worker with Social Work England.

I lead modules on psychology, research methods, and dissertation preparation at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

I am a member of the University Research Ethics Committee, am research champion for the School of Health and Social Care Professions, and I chair the Social Work Research Ethics Sub-Committee. My research interests are around the assessment and management of risk, multi-agency child protection work and the application of attachment theory. I am currently working on an evaluation of the Sex Offender Register. I regularly present research findings at international criminology and social work conferences. I am currently supervising several PhD students.
