Dr Maria Ansbro

Senior Lecturer

I am an ex probation officer who has taught in Higher Education for the last 16 years. I am registered as a social worker with the HCPC. I lead modules on psychology, research methods, and dissertation preparation at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I am a member of the university Research Ethics Committee, am research champion for the School of Health Care and Social Work, and chair the Social Work Research Ethics Sub-Committee. My research interests are around the assessment and management of risk (e.g. Ansbro, 2006, 2011), multi-agency child protection work (e.g. Ansbro, 2014, 2017) and the application of attachment theory (e.g. Ansbro, 2008, 2018). I am currently working on an evaluation of the Sex Offender Register. I regularly present research findings at international criminology and social work conferences. I am currently supervising several PhD students.
