Associate Professor Education


Lyndon Buck is a Chartered Product Designer, Chartered Engineer and a European Engineer. He has 25 years experience of teaching product design alongside professional design practice in the fields of domestic and commercial lighting, film and TV, domestic and commercial products and architectural design. Currently he is Principal Investigator for two EU Horizon 2020 projects focusing on product design for water purification, WATERSPOUTT in Africa (2016-2020) and PANIWATER in India (2019-2023). Lyndon is also a Fellow, Councillor and Trustee for the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED), member of the IED Education and Training Committee, and on the organising committee for the annual International Conference on Engineering & Product Design Education (E&PDE) for the IED and Design Society. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Lyndon is currently Associate Professor Education in Product Design and course leader for the Product Design programmes at Bucks. He is module leader for design projects modules across all three years as well as running final year major projects. He is also supervisor for 3 PhD students in the areas of product mass customisation, furniture design and socially responsible design. Current research interests are low-resource water purification, material re-use in furniture design, and mass customisation of furniture and related products.
