Senior Lecturer

Biography

After qualifying as an Operating Department Practitioner, Jonathan gained employment as an anaesthetic and scrub practitioner at an NHS trust within the Thames Valley Region. However he quickly found his true passion was in the surgical role and took up a full time position in the orthopaedic team. Jonathan progressed to become a team leader for trauma and orthopaedics and further specialised in upper limb surgery, overseeing this aspect of service delivery. During this time Jonathan also gained an honorary teaching position here at Bucks New University. Jonathan started at Bucks New University in 2015 and has continued to develop ever since, speaking at both local and national conferences. Alongside teaching and supporting students on their pre-registration journey to becoming an ODP, Jonathan has also used his knowledge and skills within a wide range of surgical specialities to develop and lead on our post-registration surgical first assistant module here at Bucks. Jonathan has keen scholarly interests in leadership, mental health & wellbeing, autistic spectrum disorders and is strong advocate of a holistic, patient centred approach to care.
