Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2018, I was working as a Research Associate (behaviour of Sports bra and Sportswear on the human body) and University Teacher in the Sports Biomechanics and Motor Control Research Group at Loughborough University.

I studied for my PhD in Sports Biomechanics and Motor Control (Balance Control in Dance Positions) at Loughborough University, where I researched into dance balance characteristics on various kinds of dance, related positions and shoe types which contribute to dance performance and to understand different balance controls in various groups by using force plates, Electromyography (EMG) and the Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment (CAREN). Before coming to the UK, I also completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Education and Sports Science at Chung-Nam National University (South Korea).

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with a world-leading sportswear company on a research project such as behaviour of Sports bra and Sportswear on the human body which aimed to help women to enjoy various activities and focus on their sports performance without pain or discomfort.

I am interested in Dance, Balance (static & dynamic balance / fall prevention for the elderly) and Biomechanics & Motor control related research, as well as Dance shoe, Sportswear, Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Rhythmical Gymnastics, Fitness programmes and Fitness garment related research. About external activities, my main interests are Dance (Latin Dance, Ballet, Jazz dance) and Fitness. I trained in Dancesport Latin (Rumba, Chachacha, Jive, Samba and Paso-Doble), competed in dance competitions and have many years of teaching experience in these Latin dance styles. I am also interested in various dance teaching & fitness programmes and qualified in IDTA Latin, Les Mills Body Attack and Body Balance etc.

I completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) in 2023.
