Dr Sainey Faye (Associate Professor)
BA (Hons), MSc, PhD, FHEA, FCMI
Associate Head of School
My current role requires me to act as the lead academic on quality and general oversight for partner institutions both in the UK and overseas.
I spent 10 years in the Higher Education Private sector teaching and managing Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and professional courses, first for a Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) then for an American multinational. This involved working in an SME and for a Multinational as a partner on validated and franchised programmes with five different UK Universities – each of which had some distinctive ways of working.
In addition the overwhelming majority of students on these programmes were International students many who had English as a second language. I was able to make significant improvements in the student experience and student outcomes during this period. I was able to turn around failing courses and very importantly championed student interests. In addition I was heavily involved in validations and Quality Assurance Agency inspections.
Working with Bucks over the past 5 years has been a steep learning curve but it has enabled me to leverage my knowledge and experience of partner institutions and the way universities manage them and apply them to partnership management at Bucks where appropriate. I was pleased to secure professional accreditations for the Bucks Accounting and Finance programmes with the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA and IFA.
Most of my achievements have been the result of working with other people – with colleagues and stakeholders. From PhD supervision, UG/PG supervision, programme design, marking, award boards, partnership/course management and committee meetings.
I have always enjoyed teaching, specialising in Finance and Corporate Governance - have supervised over 50 postgraduate dissertations and I am an External examiner for two universities. I also Chaired a number of Academic Conferences in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
In the 2019 – National Student Survey the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance programme managed to achieve 100% satisfaction. I was also voted the Most Inspiring Tutor (voted for by the students) – School of Management & Professional Studies and Nominated for Excellence and Innovation in Learning and Teaching Practice
