Biography

Sainey is the Associate Head of School for Business, Law and Computing. In addition, he is the lead academic on education and partnerships both in the UK and overseas. He has over 13 years’ experience of managing undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. This has entailed him working with partnership colleges and universities as well running validated and franchised programmes with the universities of Huddersfield, Wales, and West of England. Sainey is an external examiner for the University of Sunderland and Regents University College London. He has designed professional courses, validated courses and modules, and obtained validation from Universities, the ACCA, CIMA and the QAA meeting and often exceeding standards set. He has also chaired examination boards prioritising due process, consistency and the interests of students. Sainey has actively promoted staff development, teamwork and mentors staff. As a lecturer he has a reputation for being student centred whilst expecting high standards. He has successfully supervised a PhD student to completion as well as supervising over 50 postgraduate and numerous undergraduate dissertations. His pioneering research in the field of corporate governance for The Gambian banking sector recently culminated in the publication of a leading text on Corporate Governance in Africa in which his innovative work forms a key contribution. Sainey has acted as a consultant in banking, finance and governance consultancy for a number of companies.
