Mr John Hathaway

Senior Lecturer

I am a Senior Lecturer in Strategy and HRM teaching on various HE and Professional courses for over 15 years using my business experience to add value to the teaching and learning experience of the students.  My teaching philosophy is to look beyond the text book and integrate real world up to date data and cases to bring the real world into my lectures and seminars.  I don’t believe our background or status should restrict our life opportunities and offer an open door policy to all my students during their time with us as well as after graduation.

My commercial experience include roles as General Manager within the Automotive consultancy sector and management positions in global automotive publishing and Operations Management.  Skills include problem solving and providing strategic oversight and working with people to identify and examine critical issues relating to strategic planning, performance management and organizational development.  Myers Briggs personality type INTJ and for those who know Pack Types I am strongly aligned to ‘coachdog’ personality.

I am currently a member of University Senate and Council as well as a volunteer Governor for a local independent secondary school where I contribute to the resources and pay committees.

I am Co-Course Leader for BA. Hons. Business Management & Course Leader for BA. Hons. Business & HRM, BA. Hons Business and Psychology and partnership tutor for Burnley College. My research interests include ‘discourse analysis in corporate communications’ and ‘game theory in non-simultaneous investment strategies’ and ‘strategic leadership in mature market sectors’
